OMNIBUS THEATRE 29 March – 2 April 2022

A visceral odyysey from flying fists in Tyneside to hard sales in Dubai as Junk finds his rock bottom on top of the world.

“You’re a market stall Gucci handbag. And I’m having more than that, more than you.”

Who is Junk? Salesman? Addict? High-flyer? ‘786’? ‘Little divie’? At this moment he faces the alluring promise of a 48-storey plummet from the balcony of a glittering hotel. So where does he go from here?

Based on the true story of Geordie actor and playwright Ric Renton and developed with Synergy Theatre Project, NOTHING IN A BUTTERFLY is a blazing debut play which asks what can save people from themselves and what does it take to break the cycle of violence?

A post-show talk exploring the making of the play and bringing stories of people with lived experience of addiction and recovery will follow the matinee performance on Saturday 2nd April. Participants will include Esther Baker (Artistic Director, Synergy Theatre Project), Ric Renton and Matt Steinberg (Artistic Director, Outside Edge Theatre).

The play will also be performed at HMP Thameside.

Book now and watch the trailer at Omnibus Theatre.
