Remembering Debbie Samuel

We first met Debbie in 2008 and her warm heart and her big laugh lit up countless projects which she worked with us on as an actor and later, a workshop facilitator. She survived a traumatic history and, in overcoming so much, was an inspiration to many while her passionate support for women in the criminal justice system won her an award as part of the National Probation Service Team of the Year at London CRC.  A fierce and loyal advocate for Synergy, which she said “saved my life”, Debbie rose to join our Board of Trustees in 2018 where she continued to advise us on how to deliver for women with lived experience of the criminal justice system. Her unstoppable spirit, love and laughter impacted everyone she met and she was much loved. Debbie was a blazing light and we will never forget her.
