From September to November 2016, Synergy Studio worked with award winning spoken word artist Kat Francois delivering a course for ex-prisoners in partnership with the V&A.
Over the course of 9 weeks, members used the V&A’s major exhibition ‘You Say You Want a Revolution’ as inspiration to explore spoken word and create their own original material based on their personal response to the exhibition and its themes. The exhibition looked at the era-defining significance and impact of the late 1960s, expressed through some of the greatest music and performances of the 20th century alongside fashion, film, design and political activism.
Works were performed to a public audience as part of the V&A Revolution Weekender 4-6th November with three pop up performances around the museum.
The group performed solo and group pieces bringing together their collective response to the exhibition.
