Synergy Studio has been working with The Royal Opera House and participants feature in Robert Carsen’s production of Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites, at the Royal Opera House, conducted by Simon Rattle.
Robert Carsen’s production of the opera, which is set in a Carmelite monastery during the French Revolution, largely dispenses with conventional sets; instead using a large crowd of people – a populace or mob – to create the geography and flow of the production.
Synergy Studio actors have been working alongside artists, the chorus and orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Royal Opera House staff and the production team for Dialogues des Carmélites as part of a community ensemble for a 6 performance run at the venue in Covent Garden.
The community ensemble has been recruited in partnership with the Central School of Speech and Drama, Streetwise Opera and the Department of Work and Pensions the and is the largest cast the ROH has ever seen, as reported in the BBC.
