In November Synergy Theatre Project will be touring To My Younger Self, a play for Years 9 and 10 written by Natalie Mitchell (writer on Ackley Bridge and Eastenders) and directed by Danielle Baker-Charles, to schools and colleges across London. The play examines the issue of knife crime and explores the decisions young people must confront about a violent crime; whether they are victim, friend, witness or observer.
With a cast and crew of professional actors and artists with lived experience of the criminal justice system adding a unique dimension to the work, the production supports the teaching of PSHE and Citizenship at KS3 and KS4. The cast will lead a post-show discussion immediately after the performance encouraging conversation and addressing the issues raised by the play. Synergy can also provide an accompanying workshop, led by a professional theatre practitioner and assisted by trained ex-prisoner facilitators.
